Are individual records requests for SS apps. $27 now? Is this up from $7? Just yesterday, I printed a request letter from rootsweb that still listed $7. Is this wrong? -----Original Message----- From: SMartin583@aol.com [mailto:SMartin583@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2001 4:05 PM To: NCEDGECO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NCEDGECO] Increased SS copy prices The general concensus on the genealogy lists is that $27 is too high for a copy of the Social Security Card application for our ancestors. But I have to file a dissenting opinion: These records are not there for genealogists; we just got lucky. Because of the increased "popularity" of these records, the time and manpower necessary to respond to all of our requests for copies of the records has "skyrocketed" too. So we've made our bed, and we'll just have to pay for the housekeeping now.
