Hi Deborah. I have seen the name Lawrence and Williams show up in Edgecombe Co. documents I have. In particular, in 1846: John Knight purchased "1 negro man named Barry", and John Knight hired out Barry to "V.J.? Lawrence" for the "balance of the year".
