Sherrod is a frequently used surname in the Brantley family also. Sherwood/Sherrod Brantley had a son named Jordan for whom we have no information. Recently while looking at the North Carolina troops rosters from the Civil War, I found a Jordan Sherrod. Court Minutes of 1757-1784 at the on-line Edgecombe Digital Library: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/edgenc.htm I've done a bit of research on Benjamin Sherrod, Sr. whose deed records are found in Edgecombe Co. prior to the formation of Halifax Co., NC. Sherrod is not my direct line, but I was interested in his wife, Patience [McKinnie]. Benjamin Sherrod died in 1760, Halifax Co., NC, leaving two sons Benjamin, Jr. and Richard Sherrod. Records for Benjamin Sherrod are found in Edgecombe, Halifax and Northampton Counties, NC under various spellings: Sherrod, Sherwood, and Sherard.
