    3. Yes, I agree with Harvey and Betty, that is pretty much the point. Take it with a grain of salt. My research showed that there is *some* correct information in the book, it just happens to be mostly Nash County info and not Edgecombe. Go on the assumption that the info may or may not be correct and then verify it with more reliable sources. I just wanted to let people know that there are a lot of problems with the book, because there are lots of folks out there who will take anything off the 'net as gospel truth. And as has been pointed out, there really isn't a lot of quality control on Ancestry and similar sites. As another example, right now they have a database called "North Carolina Marriages, 1850-1868" and the description states that "the existence of these records is fortunate because most North Carolina marriages were not recorded before 1868." Hmm, that's funny, since they also have a database called "North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868." Go figure! I am going to try to contact Ancestry about this one, but doubt I'll get a response either. Traci Sara, The information that I have seen regarding the individuals that I am researching seems to be correct. However, I think that what Traci has basically said (and I hope that I am not putting words into her mouth that she didn't mean) was that the book does not have scholarly integrity, or in other words, it can't be used as a primary or even secondary source. To me, it is like much of the LDS information. Unless I can confirm it elsewhere, I only use it as a place to look. One of the things that struck me about the Edgecombe County book was this: much of the information involving my individuals were done in Nash County and not Edgecombe County. Harvey That is basically the way it is Harvey. Take the information and check and recheck it as with any information you would get that you are not quite sure of the documentation. If the information check out great. We of the Edge. Co. Gene. Soc. just wanted to let people know to be careful with the information because we had found some very big error. But if anyone can deem any good information from it that is great. Just be sure to check it out.
