John, What is the connection to Edgecombe? (or, what evidence suggests the Daniels were here?) Traci the Librarian __________________________________________________________ From: "John R. Clarke" <johnrclarke_ga@msn.com> Good Morning, I am looking for information on a DANIEL or DANIELS Family that moved to Burke County, GA ca. 1810. This family may be related to a John Reason WHITEHEAD Esq., who married a Martha Julia DANIEL ca. 1800, and later lived in Twiggs County, GA. Other links are to a TARVER and WISE families, as well as possibly collateral links to a BEASLEY, COUNCIL, PATTERSON, PERRY, GLYNN and BRANTLEY families. The known names of the children of this DANIEL Family are: Robert Williams DANIEL, Esq. (1810-1865, married MURPHEY, FLORENCE and RENEUA), James L. DANIEL (1813-before 1860, married MURPHEY and MOYE), Lucretia DANIEL (about 1810-?, married TARVER) and Sarah DANIEL (about 1800-about 1860, married WISE). Robert W. DANIEL was my GGF and his youngest daughter, Alice Elizabeth DANIEL (1854-1924) married John C. RICHTER, Sr. of Madison, Morgan, GA in 1872. We feel the TARVER who married Lucretia DANIEL about 1830 was related to a Samuel B. TARVER of Washington County, GA and Gen H. H. TARVER but do not know the exact connection. In 1850-1860 most of this family lived in the Jefferson County, GA area (specifically Bethany, Jefferson County, GA) and before that they lived in Burke County, GA. Lauderdale County, MS is also a hot spot for later descendents. Some person in the VALLATTON Family say the parent of this DANIEL Family was a Robert Chesley DANIEL and a Penny LANE but provide no documentation for this assignment. Others in the Allen DANIEL Family say their parent was a David DANIEL, a brother of Capt. Allen DANIEL of Madison, County, GA, but they, like the first, have no documentation for this assignment. Them again, other information seems to indicate they may have been related to the William DANIEL family of Edgefield District, SC. so, take your pick. <grin> Any information that you might have on any of these families is appreciated.
