    3. Karmella, I looked for Tom Knight and Cora in the Labor book and did not find any Knights at all, sorry. Also, an oops on my part. I thought Ancestry's census indexes went to 1880 but they stop at 1870. Sorry, they don't make that very clear. But just in case I looked for your people in the 1870. They may be close to the same places on the 1880. I found people with those names (keep in mind, this is head of household only, and they don't give race.) John Sanders, Upper Fishing Creek Township, page 281 Samuel Thompson, Upper Fishing Creek Township, page 281 Two George Martins: one in Lower Fishing Creek Township, page 065, the other in Cokey Township, page 105 King Knight, Lower Fishing Creek Township, page 066 George Scott, Lower Fishing Creek Township, page 065 No Metty Scott. Sarah Scott, Lower Fishing Creek Township, page 066 I see a few patterns here! Hope this helps, Traci the Librarian ____________________________________________________________ From: Karmella Haynes <kh_art@yahoo.com> Since you can do look-ups, could you please please :) the following look-ups: 1. Labor Contracts for Freedmen, 1867: North Carolina by Barnetta White For --Tom KNIGHT/wife Cora 2. the 1880 NC Census Index: Edgecombe For the following people --John Sanders/black/m --Samuel Thompson/black/m --George Martin/black/m --King Knight/black/m --George Scott/ black/m --Metty Scott/black/f --Sarah Scott/black/f I need to know page no., township, etc. for each person so I can get a census look-up from the rootsweb NC-Census-Lookup List. Thank you very much, ---Sankofa _________________________________________________________ Louise, >From the marriage mentioned, I assume you're looking for Enos Norville Jr. In that case, my deeds don't go up far enough for him to appear in them; you would have to go to or contact the courthouse for those. I checked my wills, but neither Enos left one (at least, none appear in the books.) Enos Sr. had an estate record, and both are mentioned in the book, but again the book stops at 1850 and so I'm guessing doesn't go up far enough to have an estate record for Enos Jr. You could contact the State Archives and see if Enos Jr. had an estate record. So, if any of what I do have appeals to you, let me know. I have seen one book, Kinfolks of Edgecomb Co., marriage to Sally Bolton and some census records. Do you have more info such as deeds, wills, other marriages etc.? Anything will be helpful. Thank you.
