If you have access to these records for Edgecombe County. please see you can find the division of William Adams estate that year. A person that is now deceased found them and I received only part of the information. I have not been able to find a "Will", but this person gave part of his children's names which must have come from a Probate. His wife's name was Mary. Children I know about are: John, William (Willie), Amos, Nancy (married Ephraim Dawes). Probably other I do not know. Thanks, Jim Adams

I am a HYATT descendant. It appears very likely that I descend from Thomas HYATT, whose will was written in 1781 and proven in Feb 1783 in Edgecombe Co. NC. His will mentions sons Willis and David, who were the executors and therefore over age 21. It also mentions a son John Thomas, who was not yet 18. Willis evidently moved to Chester Co. SC, and other HYATT researchers say that David moved there too (although I don't see him on the census records) and I'd like to prove that they really were his sons rather than men with the same names. Willis must have moved there after the 1790 census was taken, since he doesn't appear in Chester Co. in 1790. I am not sure yet which son was my ancestor, but it was probably Willis. He appears on the 1810 Chester Co. SC census as age 45 + and was living next to Elijah HYATT age 26-45 and Jesse HYATT age 16-26 (he's my ancestor). There is no sign of David. Did David die or move elsewhere? Any other HYATT researchers out there? I appreciate any help I can get. Vickie Elam White

Searching for information on Samuel LANE [c1800-1859], his wife, Rody (---) [d bef 1850], and their 3 known children: William Riley LANE [b 1836] Mary A LANE [1841-1904] John LANE [b c1845-d c1877] Samuel LANE first found by me on 1850 Beaufort Co, NC Census with his 3 children and no wife listed. His will dated 3 Apr 1859 mentions "there is about three hundred dollars in the hand of the B---- and MARTES in Wilson that he got from the sale of a piece of land that belonged to my last wife". Have not been able to find information in Wilson Co, NC on this land transaction. Maybe the sale of property actually took place in a nearby county. Hello fellow Edgecombe Co. Researchers. I am trying to find the present day location of Land that was deeded in 1818 in the will of Elisha Owens in Edgecombe County NC. The deed indicated the land was near Black Swamp and Hurricane Branch. The deed indicated the land was next to the following persons line of trees (property lines): John Owens line Elias Owens line Amey Owens line Thomas Jenkins line Jacob B Eason line Demsey Eures line I have found Black Swamp in Present day Greene County Southeast of Fountain NC. I also, found Black Swamp in Present day Nash Co.;near the present day northeast border of Edgecombe Co. where Edgecombe, Nash and Halifax Counties come together.
