    1. [NCEDGECO-L] BAKER, WALSTON, LITTLE, FORBES
    2. Bob Baker
    3. Messed up on my last post. thanks for setting me straight. reposting and hope I got it right this time. Am researching BAKER, WALSTON, LITTLE, FORBES. BAKERS probably migrated to Edgecombe in 1803/4 from Nansemond Co (now city of Suffulk), and some family members, Bakers, Walstons, and Littles migrated to Harnett about 1920/30. Suspect Baker that migrated to Edgecombe abt 1803 named James, and his father was named Andrew. Have no proof. Looking for help. If my assumptions are correct, James had a son named Blake, who married Nancy Barnes. Their offsprings were James, John (Jack), Daniel, Thomas W, Richard, Henry, and Peter. I am descended from Thomas W's Son Robert and Daniel's daughter (first counsin marriage) via their son Thomas who married Alice Walston, my mother. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have obviously only scratched the surface, but I am willing to share my data. Bob Baker, Grimesland, NC. 252-752-5888. ________________________________________________________ NetZero - We believe in a FREE Internet. Shouldn't you? 3. I am looking in Edgecombe Co. for Joseph SIMS, Jr. (c.1714-1795) who married Charity Barnes. He came from Granville Co., NC, where his father Joseph, Sr. (d.before1751) married Sarah ? . Joseph, Jr.'s children were Benjamin, Garry, Patty, Sarah, Senath, Shadrack, Simon, William, and Zelia. Son William SIMS (1760-1827) married Edith (Ede) Horn, sister of William Horn. They remained in Edgecombe Co. and had children Jesse, William Thomas, Mary (Polly), Sarah, Leroy, Jacob, Charity, and Patience. Jesse SIMS married Mary Ann Holland Evans Sikes and moved to TN (maybe Lawrence Co.). William Thomas SIMS (b. 1807) married Rebecca (I think) Harriet Gray and moved to Sumter Co., AL. After Harriet's death and several children's to meningitis, W.T. married a Miss Polythress(?) and had more children. Leroy, W.T.'s brother, moved to AL, also, and joined his brother in farming and the newspaper publishing business. They all died in Sumter Co. Any help you can give me with additional names, dates, etc., will be greatly appreciated. Sue Simms Hill [email protected]

First, such information as would be submitted would be for the most part little more than guesswork, or deducing data from the 1880 and 1900 censuses; thus it would be inherently unreliable. Hasn't everyone pretty much filled the 1890 gap in their own research? Secondly, it sounds like this person is going to compile the data into a book and then sell it. So it's the old question: do you want your hard-earned research data to be used by another person for their own profit? Count me out. John Ottinger

    1. [NCEDGECO-L] 1890 census book
    2. I think I have to agree with Hunter......even though it may be helpful to some ...it may contain a lot of errors....a lot of people were born and died in between 1880-1900...and unless you have an accurate birth and death date....what good would it do.....if they were alive in 1900 and 10 or over they would have been alive in 1890 and that can be determend easily enough....without a book The only thing such a book might be of benefit for, would be for those who may have been born after the 1880 was taken (say later that year)...married and had children and died before 1900 which may not be very many men, but certainly could be quite a few woman, usually you can determine if that happened as the husband usually re-married and had more children, with the first wives children being older than the new marriage date would allow..and.it might Possibly give you a first/last name for previous wife(s)........ I'm sure a book like that would cost something to produce, and they would have to recover their exspenses......so it just depends on how much of a need there is for such a thing......I can't personally see it being worth very much to me, but it might be valuable to some who can't get anywhere on a parents/grandparents name.....
