A letter frcm A. WARREN, Elba, Coffee Co., ALA to Clerk of the County Court of Craven County:"... [At] your County Court March Term l8l4 you will find that Abram WARREN & others Legatees of Ann WARREN received from David WHITField, exec., a sum of money which was paid to John REEL their guardain June Term 1814 and in March 1815 the other legatees were paid... I have never presented my claim and I understand Uncle John REEL died some years past ..." (C.R. 028.928.3) Didn't a Matthew Whitfield (c 1717-1785) marry a Warren?
Wonderful information, Doris, and thank you so much for it. I'm wondering if that could be David Whitford rather than Whitfield. If you have a good copy of the handwritten document, could you check it and see for sure. The Whitfords, Warrens and Reels were very much interrelated. (I descend from one or two of each, BTW). Many thanks if you're able to take the time to do this. I did find this for anyone who might be interested: 1850 Census, Coffee County, AL Household # 176/176 Abraham Warren, 47, Farmer, Unk Elizabeth, 40 GA James M., 23, AL Jeremiah, 22 Elizabeth ?, 20 Basheba, 17 Amanda A., 16 Sarah, 14 Lydia A., 11 Martha M., 9 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doris R. Hello, This was from the NC Gen. Soc. Journal 1984 #4 - typed and spelled Whitfield. Of course, whoever copied from the old hand-written doc may have made error. Source given as C.R. 028.928.3 Good luck with your search. ----- Original Message ----- From: "CheeryFats" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, October 07, 2006 7:06 PM Subject: Re: [NCDUPLIN] Warren; Whitfield; Reel > Wonderful information, Doris, and thank you so much for it.
