My family in NC Duplin are as follows: Peter BARBARIE, Jr. (b. ca 1751 NC d. bef Oct 1783 in Duplin NC will of 1781 wife Margaret or Margrett Pege or Peggy, last name unknown They lived in Bertie Co. until 1778 or 1779 when they moved to Duplin. Allen J. BARBREY b. ca 1775 in Bertie Co., d. 15 May 1853 in Sampson Co. m. Rhoda Ann SMITH ca 1797. They had 12 children: Peter, Nancy, Janet, William Allen, Margaret Jane, Catherine, Ollen, Gabriel, Susan Ann, Allen B., Rhoda Ann, and Martha Jane. John J. BARBARY b. ca 1778 in Duplin Co., d. bef. 1850 in Sullivan Co. TN, was married to Unknown, and they had six children: Quimbeau (b. ca 1800), Margaret, (b. ca 1803), Kitsy, Emily, Allen (b. ca 1814), and Samuel Smithwick (b. ca 1815) were all born in Sampson County, NC. His second wife, Mary POPE b. ca 1795 in Sampson Co. NC,d. ca 1830, Washington Co., VA. Mary POPE had a brother Redman POPE, b. Sampson County. They had 6 children of whom Redman BARBRE (b.1818), Serena (b. ca 1819) and Caltha (b. ca 1821), Absobeth (b. ca 1823, and Alpha (b. ca 1826) were probably all b. Sampson, NC. The remaining child, Thomas, was b. in 1829 in Washington Co., VA. Redman Barbre and Serena with their parents lived at some point in Hall's Dist, Sampson, NC, Sallie J. Barbary b. bef. 1781 Duplin Co. and know nothing more about her. I have no clue to Martha Peggy's last name, but all those J's in her children's names may be a clue. I would be very grateful for any kind of help on these people who have had their last names spelled in as many as 15 different ways. Pat
