David, thank you very much for the family information. It helps! I am searching for WEST families of Duplin that are descended from James born ca 1785 and Daniel born ca 1787. Since you and your wife were visiting Magnolia, I strongly suspect Samuel West JONES was descended from one of them. Thanks so much for taking time to write. I will keep a lookout to see if Diane posts the grave/cemetery info. Fran
In the latest New Eng. Hist. & Gen. Register: In Nov 1734 Mary Studley of Newport, widow, filed a complaint agt. Thomas Hicks of Newport, yeoman, for money owed & goods del. to his wife in Nov. 1730. At the same court, Thomas Hix of Blufield in the County of Blufield in NC sued Mary Studley... Can anyone i.d. Thomas?
I can't tell you anything about Thomas, but I can tell you that the account could not be accurate as stated. There is no Blufield County in NC, and I'm almost certain there never has been a county by that name. At http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncgenweb/county.html you find some information about when each county was formed and when some were dissolved. There is no Blufield. I wonder if it could have been Beaufort? Lura ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doris R.
