Hello list, I am trying to get some information and proof on my Lane lineage. My ggg grand mother was Penelope Lane. She married John Brice in Bulloch county GA. in Dec. 1797. They were married only three years before he died in 1800 leaving one child, a daughter named Ann . A probate for John has not been found, but other records show that his daughter Ann inherited a 100-acre tract of land as well as two slaves from her father. Ann and her mother (Penelope) were residing on the land when it was sold Jan. 25, 1801 to her uncle John Lane, a planter in Bulloch Co. (brother of Penelope). Penelope and the child is mentioned in a deed in Bulloch County GA in 1801.The deed was recorded Apr. 29, 1801, Bulloch Co. Deed Book A 1796-1805, page 45. The indenture was made between John Lane and Penelope's child. Lane paid $50 for the 100-acre tract and added to the agreement that he would not quit claim the land during the widowhood of Penelope (Lane) Bryse, meaning that they could continue to live there as long as his sister Penelope was widowed. Looking for any information on this Lane family. Is Penelope the daughter of Alexander Lane and his wife who were married in Duplin County? If so was Alexander married to Martha Wood in Duplin County in 1780. Did they move soon after to Georgia? any help very much appreciated here. Emma
