Fran, If you do get the Journal.... Don't go to a lot of trouble, but if you should happen to find any information about the following land entry, please let me know. I assume that is the Goshen Swamp, but I'm not sure. I'd like to know where that land was located. ------------------------------ "Abstracts of Land Patents" for the colony of North Carolina, 1735-1764 #467, page 82 of Patent Book 2 William Carrell, 17 Nov 1753, 100 acres in Duplin county on the Great branch of Cape Fear, joining the swamp. ------------------------------ I have a special interest in this William. He MAY be the father of Jesse Carroll - and NOT the William of Granville County as it is written up in many places, even in the Heritage Book. Also, in the northwestern tip of Duplin (Wayne County border) on the northeastern side of the river there is or was a place on the map called "Carrol's Pt." I don't know if that is related to the William who got the land grant in 1753 or not. No searching for it.... but if you happen to see his name assigned to clear the channel in the swamp or see his land on a plat, please let me know. Thanks.
