    1. Re: [NCDUPLIN] General Joseph T. Rhodes
    2. Stephen, Thanks so much for finding this article. I have never been able to find any military records, bounty land grants or anything concerning General Joseph T. Rhodes, even though he is mentioned numerous times in Rev. history and other men's service records. Do you have anything else on him? Sloan, don't know if this is the same man, but I might have a few deeds abstracts in which a Joseph RHODES is mentioned as witness, adjacent landowner, etc. If I recall correctly, most are from Duplin before Sampson was created---memory might not be accurate, but will check if you wish. 3. Sloan, You are welcome. I will see what else I can come up with. I know he left will in Duplin as did his father, Benjamin Rhodes. Mentioned in his will are: wife or housekeeper, Mary Williams ; son, James Thomas; niece, Elizabeth Bostick; brother, John Felix; nephew, Joseph; grandson, Joseph T.; nephews, Joseph Newkirk, Joseph Powell and Joseph Rhodes; brother, Jacob R. He was elected to the House of Commons from Duplin along with my ancestor James Pearsall in Sep 1793. Apparently, he was in the House of Commons a number of years and the Senate. Another source reflects that he was a Lieutenant in the Eight NC Regiment and Captain in the Tenth Regiment of the Regular Army. Service in the Battle of Eutaw Springs, 8 Sep 1781.
