C., 124th Illinois Reg.; also the battles at Champion Hill and Big Black River. Beck was born in Natchez to a father from the North; mother, the South. Family moved to Ill. when he was 18 months old. Has kin in Ms. and La., among them a cousin, Rev. Mr. NORSWORTHY, Methodist minister.
