    3. Donna, I am a new researcher on your web site. My name is Lawrence E. "Larry" Strahan [email protected] and President of the John and Moses Strahan Family Association. We are owners of the book "The Strahan Story". The family started with the arrival of Alexander Strahan in Westmoreland Co. VA.1657. The family moved into NC, MD. & DE in 1721 and the name Alexander Strahan is noted in many land purchases, mostly in New Hanover Co. NC., but knowing many counties were divided into other counties I don't know how many were made from the original New Hanover Co. If you ever run across the name Strahan and variants such as Straughan, Straughn, Strayhan, Straun, and Strawhorn or some Strachan please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it. Enjoyed your site. I have notified the Sanders side of my wife's family of VA. and would your believe my mother's family in MS. of your site. Thanks for your work. Larry

    3. Larry, Welcome to the list, and I am glad you enjoyed our site. I am also the County Coordinator for New Hanover and Pender Counties, which were all divided from the original New Hanover County. There are 5 Counties that divided from New Hanover, with some then dividing from there into other Counties. The Counties are: Bladen, Brunswick, Duplin, Onslow, and Pender. You can find a link to these and all other NC Counties here: http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Encgenweb/county.html I will try to remember to let you know if I come across any of the variants, but I can't promise! : ) I do post notices to the list when I post new info to the site, as well as having the new things posted on the home page. If you haven't tried it already, use the search engine on the home page and it will tell you exactly where these surname variants can be found on the sites I appreciate you spreading the word about the site, and feel free to send any info to me that you wish to contribute to the sites. Have fun and happy researching! 3. A Nina Strahan married Henry Chess Ricks , who was b 7 Aug 1869 in Tangipahoa Parish, La.. They had 7 children, I believe. The Ricks, in Va. earlier, migrated from NC about 1800. I have nothing else on the Strahan name. Ring any bells? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lawrence E. 3. Thanks for the information, this may be the daughter of Elijah Strahan. He was reported to have moved to that Parish from Copiah Co. MS. after his father died. Did the information say anything about her father or mother. That Parish is just to the west of Washington Parish where my 4th Great-Grandfather Cornelius lived and was a brother to Elijah. That Parish is only 30 miles away from Baton Rouge, LA. where I live. I will try to go to the courthouse. Is that where you got the information? Thank you for writing to me. Larry Strahan
