William was married to mary CONNERLY, the daughter of Cullen CONNERLY, of Duplin County. William predeceased his father who died in 1816 in Duplin, for Thomas provided for William's children in his will. William and Mary were married about 1790. Mary remarried to Jesse GUY in Jan 1807 in Duplin. From Murphy's 'DUPLIN COUNTY WILLS', under connerly's will we learn, "....only daughter Polly Guy is to have 1/3 part of the 1/6 part, the other 2/3 to go to her 2 children, John and Litha, by her first husband Wm. BENNETT." Will dated 11 Nov 1812. Bob Bennett
