I don't know if this will help you or not. Sometimes the census on Ancestry.com is very hard to read, so I print out the section I am interested in with colored paper. Green or yellow is good. It sometimes brings out the print better, just enough to make out a word. Perhaps if you copy the cards and experiment with different colored paper it might help you.
