Diane, Thanks for the status report. I find it impossible to understand how any organization based on an appreciation of history could withhold permission to genealogists wishing to share information about family history. Maybe the foundation has observed this new groundswell of interest and is considering the potential to profit from publishing the cards themselves. I hope that is not the case. I appreciate your work to make the content of the cards accessible to all. I have a feeling that accessibility to information was behind the development of the cards from the start. Fran, To be perfectly honest with you, one of Dallas Herring's biggest fears was that his information would be shut up and not open to researchers. One of his dreams was to put the Leslie Brown cards on the computer, and I am trying to follow his dream of putting them on the computer for everyone to utilize. The Foundation does stand to make quite a lot of money from us, not only from the Leslie Brown cards, but other materials that researchers will want copies of that are in the library. The cards are a stepping stone to give others information, which will lead to new information. Little do they know that this will make researchers more interested in visiting the library and obtaining copies of other information that is there. I think since it has been winter and there has been little to no interest in the library they are running scared. I believe that once the weather starts warming up and people start travelling they will see a renewed interest and flow of traffic through the library. I have spoken with some people that knew Dallas and Leslie very well and they say that I am doing what both of them would want to see done...sharing their research with others that might never have the chance to go to Duplin to see or get copies of their information.
