    2. I have some BELLs listed on various deeds and census' from Bute & Duplin Counties in 1700's & 1800s. A Robert Bell appears on 1850 census as age 40 living with the Joseph Groves Jr. family as a laborer. He was born in Sampson County, North Carolina. Deed from Allen Groves to Paul Patrick 1770 (Bute County) by oath of Thomas Bell, esq. Deed-Allen(Allan) Groves sold land to Thomas Bell in 1769 (Bute County). Deed- Thomas Sherrod to Allen Groves (Bute County). This land was adjacent to Bell & Pierce. 1765 Allen Groves to Thos.Bell 1768 Both from Bute County. "Bear Swamp adjacent to Bell & Pierce.
