Have come across something that have not notice before a new Grimes name in Stewart Co.,Ga, and a lot of the Grimes that were in Stewart Co.,Ga came from Duplin Co.,NC and there is a belief that the Pearce(Pierce) line is connected. This is what i found on pages 556/557 Stewart Co.,History. Joel Grimes had an account at a Merchantile store in Lumpkin,Ga Owner (decd) was Wade H. Ball, July 1837. the other is TESTATOR: Alexander NELSON. Date made: Sept 1834. legatees: wife, Sarah; children Ruth Chappell, Elizabeth Speers, John , Wm, Matilda Jamerson(dec'd), George Robertson,Martha Ann, Joseph Wilson, Joshua Jackson, Mary Jane, Benjamin Franklin. Executor: son William; Thomas S Chappell(son-in-law). Witnesses: Elijah Pearce, J.J. Jamerson, W.C. Grimes. (later found where W.C. m in Dale Co.,Al. or Coffee Co.,Al. As most of the Grimes researches know that a Grimes did marry into the Nelson line , here is info where Grimes ,Nelson, and Pearce, have a knowledge of each other.
