Hugh Grimes wit to the Will of GEORGE BRANDEN 11/2/1772 . Wife Marion BRANDEN of Rowen Co.,NC. QUESTION: was Marion a sister to HUGH GRIMES or maybe a DAU?? Hugh GRIMES was from Duplin Co,NC so why at his age would he go to Rowen Co, except for a family member, unless someone else has a Hugh in their GRIMES line in that time period. I sure have not found him. next item : Found a chart in FTM vol 17 #1305. It has A Jacob Grimes b 1778/79 in WILKES Co.,NC & d 8/1862 in Putnam Co., Tn. there was over 5 pages of info. on Jacob's family. In the LDS they do have the info on the German line of GRIMES from Rowen Co, there was the John Jacob Grimes b ca 1722 , etc. Next item: Something came in about MATILDA GRIMES, found this in my papers, Pitt Co. Tax list 1763 WILLIAM GRIMES with Alexander STEWART. Matilda Grimes dau of Samuel Ellis Grimes and Sallie Brookover m Alexander Stewart b 1825 Adam Co., Ohio ,son of Joseph Stewart b5/1/1786and Elizabeth Rains m 1814 .
