I have hit a dead end. I'm looking for James Richard Cole, Wife is Agnes McGowan. The only information I have is that they were married, don't know when or where, and that James Richard Cole died 5-30-1929 and on his headstone it says that his mothers name was Courtney, but no mention of his father. The children were all supposedly born in Duplin County. They are Dollie Julia b1881 who married Jacob Smith, Agnes Caroline b1885 who married Perry Albertson, Melissa married Tate Mobley, Ina married Lloyd Brown, J. E. or "Ed" married Lucy Williams, D.L. or David Lude married Lucy Lanier, Mary Jane married Lloyd Hunter, Adina married Dunn Pickett, George Washington? Cole who died in 1913. George was married to Florence Swaney and had a daughter, Annie Estelle Cole, my grandmother. George died when she was an infant and my mother had little, if any contact with the Cole family. I live in Texas and don't have access to information there in Duplin County. The family history center has been closed all summer here and the library hasn't been much help either. I'm looking for any information on James Richard Cole and Agnes McGowan or McGowen, who both their parents were, where they came from, birth dates, anything that I could build on. I think that James Richard Cole will be connected to Thomas or Robert Cole from the 1840 census, but I can't find the in between. If only I could get a new starting point!
