Hi All, as most of you know by now there is a group of us trying to connect our Grimes to the GRIMES /Llwelyn/Culpepper line of Norfolk ,Va that came to Nc some stayed in Martin Co,but some move on from there. We Have Walter Grimes bca 1690 (this is just guessing also the b for Hugh) his son HUGH b ca 1715/20, m Elizabeth Whitehead, we have 3 known sons for Hugh Grimes,James Grimes m Sarah Winders, Sampson Grimes m Bathsheba Winders, Joseph Grimes all sons died in Duplin Co.,NC. Now what i am going to do is send some abstracts of deeds that Hugh and Betty Grimes of Houma,La. sent me and see if someone can help with this big puzzle, i have gone over the books and papers and i still think that one of the lines that is missing in the Grimes /Llwelyn book is where our line is but cannot prove it, someone out there has the answer :-) it is just being able to find it :-). Willis Grimes and wife Elizabeth Grimes of Birtie Co. sold to Joshua Peelle of Northhampton Co., 300 Acres more or less for 90 pounds. near the last part of this deed it has WILLIS GRIMES, SARAH GRIMES his wife,could this have been an error or maybe his wife was SARAH ELIZABETH GRIMES?? Bk K page 191 Bertie Co.,NC Willis Grimes of Bertie Co., sold 270 acres more or less for 17 pounds nine shelling 6 pence to THOMAS MEIARS of Bertie Co.,NC, land lying North side of Cashie Swamp. Jan 12,1762. Bk M page 331 Samuel GRYMES and FARABE GRYMES his wife of the county of Birtie,sold 213 acres more or less for 45 pounds to JESSE HARRELL son of EDWARD HARRELL of Bertie Co.,NC. 2/27/1771. BK 1 page 6 DUPLIN Co.,NC WILLIS GRIMES of Bertie Co sold to GEORGE BELL of Duplin Co., 213 acres more or less for 45 pounds, located in Duplin Co.,NCat a place called Beaver Dam Branch. 10/9/1764. Bk 5 Page 274. WILLIS GRIMES sold to Hezekiah Walker 180 acres more or less in Duplin Co.,NC.mentions east side of the sand Sea Run Swamp for 90 pounds.
