William Fletcher Pearsall was born circa 1836 in Duplin Co, NC. He supposedly married Cordelia Ann Faison, but have been unable to verify. The 1870 census of Duplin reflects William Pearsall, age 34 and Cornelia Pearsall, age 32 in Faison Township. Cordeia Ann Faison was dau of William Wright Faison and Elizabeth Ann Oates. CSA File at National Archives reflectes one William F. Pearsall voluntarily enlisted as Private on 1 Oct 1861 at the age of 25. He was living in Duplin County. Enlisted in Company A, 38th Regiment, NC Troops, CSA. Promoted to 3rd Sgt Jan 1862, 1st Sgt 15 Mar 1863. He was born in Duplin Co, NC. Occupation: Farmer, height 6 feet. On 9 Apr 1865 he was on the list of POWs belonging to Army of Northern Va who were surrendered by Gen Robert E. Lee to Lt Gen U. S. Grant.
