    3. LANIER, Jesse, N.C. Militia He is listed in the 1790 Duplin County census with a family of 6 persons and 2 slaves. Soldier was born in 1757 and was the son of Thomas Lanier, who was baptisted July 6, 1733 and Died June 1787 Duplin Co. One son is identified as Thomas Lanier b. 1780 died after 1850, m 1st 1804, name unknown, died about 1810, leaving two sons & one dau.all born before 1810. Thomas married 2nd, Theana Herring, born 1794 Sampson Co. NC. Living with her dau. Rebecca (Lanier) Powel 1870.
