If any of you feel compelled to pay me for the expenses pertaining to lookups that you've received, please send a "wee" donation to this new project that Elizabeth Turner is involved in (up to her neck I'd bet). Make the checks payable to Bladen County Historical Society and note on the check that it is for "publishing books". Send it to Elizabeth Turner, P.O. Box 873, Elizabethtown, North Carolina 28337. This seems to me to be an example of the ultimate recycling: BCHS produces these books, we benefit from the information published, and we, in turn, support their efforts. No one will ever know if you choose to do this, and rightly so. It's merely a solution for putting the "reimbursement" question to rest. With much love and admiration for all of you, Dee -----Original Message----- From: Elizabeth Turner <eturner@carolina.net> To: d7777@worldnet.att.net <d7777@worldnet.att.net> Date: Wednesday, November 03, 1999 5:28 PM Subject: Fw: donations Dee, I want to start a fund for republishing books or publishing new books and this would be a great place to put nickels, dimes or anything. We have just sent to the printers our Vol. 5 Bible Book. Thanks for the offer. I have zeroxed its pages well over 2000 times, flipping it back and forth and upside down on the copier, not a torn page, not a loose page. My copy has done "yeoman's duty" and still looks great. Next, some of the dear people that I have done lookups for are getting rather insistent about paying me mailing costs, etc. Is there an entity in Bladen County ( genealogical of course) that could use their contributions? We're not talking about endowments, just a few dollars at a time. Please let me know your thoughts. I sure don't want to have to tear up or return checks, but neither will I accept them. Dee (Atlanta)
