Joseph Grimes b ca 1770 d 11/5/1843 son of Joseph who was a son of Hugh Grimes of Duplin Co.,Nc. In the Archives at Raleigh, Nc , there is about 47 pages of papers on the estate of Joseph . Joseph and his wife Namoe raised six of their grandchildren, we have only found one known son for Joseph, his name was John Grimes b?? d before Jan 1849. Names of the Grandchildren; Spicey Jane m Wm J. Kornegay, Elizabeth m Luke Kornegay, Mary E m Henry Kornegay, Hezekiah m Margarett Kornegay, David m Mary Jones, Joseph W m Zilpha Loftin. The Father of the above Joseph d ca 1783, mention in his will was 5 sons and 1 dau that aws due after he made his will. the sons were Charles, John, Joseph, James and Thomas. Joseph's wife name was Elinder. It is believed that most of these sons went to SC. Does anyone have info on this family??? Christine GT.
