Sally, Remember that I said my books were earlier than your dates and I would have to try to go forward rather than back? Here's the first clue from one of the new books. These are unsorted court documents. FROM # 19 SS (Note: Secretary of State) 887 (1749 - 1754) 499-(30) SAMUEL HERRING inventory Taken 14 Jun 1751 by ANTHONY HERRING excr. Included were 2 negro men, 1 woman 5 children (not named); the children given by will to STEPHEN HERRING, MICHAEL HERRING, and [blank] HERRING. Mentioned were horses given by will to the excr and to John Connerly. Debts due or owed the estate: ALEXANDER ROUSE, STEPHEN CADE, WILLIAM TEAGUE This would have been a long shot until I saw the ROUSE name. Still working on it.
