Dear Judy, I too research Halls from Hallsville. I have been to the Hall - Sprunt - Armstrong Cemetery too. My grandmothers grandfather was John William Hall born in Hallsville. His father was Thomas Pearsall Hall son of William Hall. I have quite a lot of info. on the Hall line. Would you like to share any info? Who are you researching exactly? Nicholas married Catherine Kinnear and had a son, Thomas Thomas Hall married Mary Brown and had a son named Joseph Nicholas. Joseph Nicholas Hall married Annie Thompson and had a son named Leon McGowan Hall, as well as other children. ********************** We looked for any record of marriages for all our family links which include Hall and McGowan and came up with the following marriage: Thomas Hall and Mary B. McGowan on 5-25-1850. *********************** This is my thinking and not facts: Thomas married Elizabeth and she died. He remarried Mary Brown (who was buried beside Thomas. Elizabeth is on the other side of him) Mary was, according to the headstone, 22 years old when there was a marriage record to Thomas Hall, but the last name was McGowan. Being 22, she could have been married previously to a McGowan. This is what I'm trying to find out. If Mary was previously married to a McGowan, then who? Thomas and Mary had a grandson whose middle name is McGowan. It was common for middle names to be a family name from the mothers side, and in this case, maybe the grandmothers.
