Dear list--- After a trip to Duplin, Pender, and New Hanover Counties this summer...I was amazed at headstones in fields and YES in peoples front yards. My husband and I both have roots in these counties. What this should say to all of us, is get as much cemetery information available to everyone, through the internet and other forms. The above counties have little or no cemetery lists on their Genweb sites---and very little on the Tombstone project list. Living in Texas---it is hard for me to physically read and submit these cemeteries, but I have vowed to do what I can. It doesn't have to be in NC-----anywhere near your home will save that information for posterity If everyone would pitch in, we would at least have the information, that time, hurricanes and progress are bent on destroying.
