I am researching surnames BULLARD and STROUD and especially interested in learning what happened to some pre 1800 BULLARD daughters. I suspect they married into neighborhood families who lived in north Duplin County between 1760 and 1800. Neighbors included OUTLAW, GRIMES, WRIGHT, SULLIVAN, HERRING, WESTON,GAVIN and STROUD. My particular interests are the CHAMBERS and CRUMPTON families. Jemima CHAMBERS married Isaac NEWTON, probably in New Hanover. Isaac died In Duplin in 1799, but I have no idea when or where Jemima died or who her Parents were. This couple had at least 12 children, one of whom, Sarah A., Married Daniel ALDERMAN (Jr.) 04 Aug 1772 in Duplin John T. CRUMPTON, born 25 Nov 1778 (probably Duplin), died 19 Jul 1861 in Bulloch County, GA. 15 Mar 1809 in Duplin he married Mary ALDERMAN, daughter Of Daniel ALDERMAN (Jr.) and Sarah A. NEWTON. A Thomas CRUMPTON was head of household in Duplin Co., NC in 1800 census (pg 418). His will, proved Jan. 1808 in Duplin, names wife Rachel, son John and daughter Rebecah WATSON: "wife Rachel all the property I possess Of Every Kind Dureing her natural life; dau. Rebecah WATSON 5 shillings She Being other ways provided for; son John all my property at my wifes Decease." Signed Thomas CRUMPTON Executors: wife Rachel and Son John Witnesses: Wm. STOAKES Jur, Austin BEESLEY, Wm. WILLS John T. CRUMPTON and Mary ALDERMAN named their first child Rachel and their Fourth daughter Rebecca. Their first son was named Daniel, which was Mary's father's name; their second son was named Thomas. While these were all Certainly common names at the time, the conjunction of all of them and the Order in which they were used are points in favor of considering Thomas and Rachel CRUMPTON as John T.'s parents. But I don't know for sure, and I would dearly like to. Donna, I just sent you Davis and did not sign it. I am Margie Davis Roe
Donna, I am researching all of the Davis familes in Duplin County untill 1850. Sampson Davis born 1755 in Edgecombe County lived in Duplin County in the part that became Sampson County. He died 1840 in Bladen County. John Davis died 1789 in Duplin County and Sampson became the administrator of his estate. I do not know the relationship, brother, son or other. John's children were born between 1775-1784: Isaac Davis James Davis Benjamin Davis Jeremiah Davis Any information would be appreciated.

Hi all, I would like to ask for all African American researchers to please share your information to be posted on the site. I have various researchers contacting me requesting information but I have no idea who all is researching African Americans or who has information. I have added some links that I have found to the site, but I really need your help! So, if you have a website you would like to have listed on the site, or family information to add I will build a page to add it. Anything you would like to share would be a great resource for other researchers. I realize it is very hard to trace African Americans during and before the Civil War, so I will need your help so that I can post information and resources to help everyone to research their family trees. So, come on, let's get some valuable African American Resources on the Duplin site! Thanks and Happy Hunting! Hi, everyone. Lowell
