    1. [NCDUPLIN] Jonathan Fryar and wife Elizabeth ??
    2. Morning to all, I need some help with one of my many brick walls. Jonathan Fryar is shown on the Colonial Census for 1784 for Sampson co. It is said that he appears in Old Duplin County before the Revlutionary War and he may have come from Vermont? not verified. He was the brother of Jacob Fryar whose wife was Winifred (we believe was a Carr) not verified Jonathan Fryar, I do not have birth date, but he died 22 Feb. 1819 and his wife Elizabeth ?. Have no other information on his wife Elizabeth except the following. I have received a copy of the will of Charity Hollingsworth Caison (Cason) who was married to Cannon Caison (Cason.) In this will she leaves SIX SHILLINGS to her son in law Jonathan Fryar and his heirs. My question is Elizabeth ? wife of Jonathan Fryar the daughter of Charity Hollingsworth and Cannon Caison? Jonathan and Elizabeth's children were: Mary Polly Fryar who married Joseph Moore William Fryar my G.G.Grandfather who married Molsey Jane Gregory Francis "Fannie" Fryar who married Samuel Bludwuth ( this is how it is spelled on the marriage records of NC, 1804, New Hanover co.NC) Have also seen it written Bloodworth and Bloodwith Elizabeth Fryar who married Tommy Tompson (not sure of spelling of his last name) Edith Fryar who married James Banks or Blanks ? ( have seen it both ways) Charity who married Lewis McCallop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jackie Purdy, California

    2. Hi Fran, My Great Grand-Uncle Uncle Rev. Luther Rice Carroll married Jemima Ann Carlton. Also in all the old stories it is said that the Thomas Fryar home was at Carlton Crossing, in Magnolia. Alonzo Wright Carlton married Mary Jane Chesnutt, the sister of my G.G.Grandmother Zilpha Chesnutt who married John Durham Carroll. Zilpha and Mary Jane Chesnutt were the daughters of Lemuel Chesnutt and Mary Jane Bass, and all I have on Mary Jane is that she was the daughter of Thomas Bass and Mary Ann Flowers. Uriah Bass married Frances Hollingsworth she would have been my 1st. cousin 5 times removed. Sorta distant but still kin. Rebecca Bass married Thomas Jesse Carroll son of my G.G.G.G.Grandparents Jesse Carroll & Mary Rachel Gavin. I am sure there are more that are more. 3. Rogers is the family that made my mother and father kin. My uncle ,now decd., got me into geneology. Being my mother's brother he supplied me with his family to a point and that is where I began my agony of geneology reserch. My mother's grandmother was a Brand. These Brands made it easy as they have been researched to the max and there was plenty of info. I found most of the Brands in America came through Westerly Rhode Island. 30 years later while I was researching my Duplin County Sullivans, mainly Michael Campbell Sullivan, I came upon a thriller. I have found or have been furnished a book full of information on Michael Campbell Sullivan in which I found the following info. John Sullivan Sr. was the husband of Agga Ford. But in the documents I found Michael Campbell Sullivan wasn't Agga's son. DNA test has Michael being the son of John Sullivan Sr. Documents say that Michael was the Half Brother of Eleazor Campbell and William Campbell who was killed in The American Revelution. Documents also say that a John Rogers Sr. was the brother of the mother of Eleazor, William, and Michael. So if the documents are all true then Michael was a Sullivan whose mother was a Rogers, raised by a Campbell, who was an heir of John Sullivan whose wife was a Ford. "Amazing". Now to your question and the tie in of my mother and father. After finding Michaels mother's maden name was Rogers, naturally by force of 30 years of habit, I started looking into the Rogers, 1st in Duplin County. I found at least 3 Pelegs of differant generations in Duplin County only. But the name I was researching was John Rogers who was born circa 1728. There is where I found record (unproven) of a man who was born circa 1695 in of all places Westerly Rhode Island and had died in Duplin County Circa 1775. His name was Peleg Rogers (of course) which all is on Dad's side. The amazing part was Peleg's wife died 25 April 1754 in Wilmington North Carolina and her name was Isabella Brand Rogers who was also born in Westerly Rhode Island. Isabella was the daughter of Thomas Brand born in North Kingdom, Rhode Island died 1730 at Westerly Rhode Island and Elizabeth Babcock of Westerly Rhode Island. Now Isabella had a younger brother named Benjamin Brand who was the Ancestor of my Mother. Benjamin Brand was one of the first names from the beginning of my 30 years of research. Dad was from Duplin County North Carolina and mom from Tift County Georgia but were tied from birth by the Children of Thomas Brand and Elizabeth Babcock. "Amazing" Peleg Rogers father was Thomas Rogers born at Newport Rhode Island and died 22 August 1739 at Westerly R. I. Their issue, Peleg Mary, Anna, Elizabeth, Leah, Penelope, Precilla, Rebecca, Job, Ruth, and Sarah. Peleg Rogers Born in Westerly R.I. married Isabella Brand and had the following: (Partial listing) John, Job, Thomas, James, Benjamin, Peleg (son's names from road contract) Was there a will? As there were no female names listed in pelegs family above, who is the mother of Michael Campbell Sullivan born circa 1760? I feel certain (unproven) the John mentioned is the John Rogers Sr. on the proof of death of William Campbell and the uncle of Michael Campbell Sullivan.

    3. Hi Laura, I have some info on one Pulaski Griggs Wilson (4 Jan 1855 - 13 May 1931), son of James Dickson Wilson and Elizabeth Hollingsworth. He married Catherine Pearsall Gillespie (10 Dec 1848 - 6 Jan 1929), daughter of Clement Montgomery Pike Gillespie(19 Aug 1813 - 14 Jun 1884) and his first wife Mary Ann Pearsall (10 Jun 1815 - 1 Sep 1860). I have updated information on four of their children, Rosa Bell Wilson, Raymond Melvin Wilson, Ebon Clarence Wilson and Ada Alice Wilson. I am missing info on Herbert J. Wilson and Mary L. Wilson who are reflected as children in the census records. S.
