Just for everyone's FYI. On Revolutionary service records, pay vouchers and Army account lists the numbers do not match for some reason. You need to search for the names. There is no rhyme or reasoning for the numbers. You can see what I am talking about by going to the NC Revolutionary War site and looking through some of the info we have and still are transcribing for the site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncrevwar/ncrevwar.htm Diane http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncduplin/duplin.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncgreene/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncjones/jones.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~nclenoir/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncnewhan/nh.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncpasqu2/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncpender/pender.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncperqu2/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncmil/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~mocivwar/mocwindex.html -------Original Message------- From: bladencountyncgw@triad.rr.com Date: 3/5/2008 1:40:45 PM To: ncduplin@rootsweb.com; ncsampso@rootsweb.com; ncbladen@rootsweb.com Subject: [NCDUPLIN] question on Rev War service - lists vs pay vouchers I just went to the NC archives today and copied several pages from the Rev War Army Account microfilm. These are lists of men and usually have a pay frequency code in the right hand columns. I did not see a reference in the archives catalog to a pay voucher slip related to specific indivuals on these lists that I was searching for. I know sometimes there is a pay voucher card with information on the payment and a hole stamped through it showing that it was paid. If a soldier is listed on the army account list, is there always a pay voucher associated that can found in the microfilm? The assistant there did not fully understand what I was asking. Looking over these NARA records available they are all much later than I need. That is the problem with a lot of these on line records. I need passengers who came in the 1600 & 1700's. Dorothy White dotwhite@comcast.net 804.795.4296

Thanks ladies, I really do appreciate your kind words. I get my thanks when I see all of you find new information and/or make a break through on one of your brick walls. I do hope we are all able to continue building and making the Duplin site into one of the best there is. I have 8 county sites and the military sites which total 17 in all (county and military) and I have to say the Duplin researchers are by far the most active and generous with their information. I beg borrow and plead with other counties to get them interested, but Duplin, it seems as if I ask and you all try your best to come up with and meet or exceed my expectations as far as sending in information and sharing with everyone. We have close to 7,000 pages of information on the site, and I hope we can double that by the end of the year. So come on Duplin let's keep pulling and working together and keep our site growing! Applause for Diane for making Duplin County Genealogical history an exciting, almost living thing, even for those Of us who are hundreds of miles away. How I wish I could contribute stories about my Duplin County female Ancestors. All I have at this point are the names of my family's Duplin County men with the Wilkins surname and the possible first Names of their wives. I do think that Nancy, the wife of my William Wilkins Sr. (b. ABT. 1753) may have been surnamed Hannah, but that's Speculation at this point. My Wilkins line came to Kentucky from Duplin before 1803, so I Haven't found a lot to go on. Still, I am eager to read what others Contribute about the women of Duplin County. I'm especially hopeful That some of you can share accounts of the mid- to late-1700s in that Geographic area. At least I could get a sense of what life might have Been like for my Wilkins clan.
