    1. Jacob Sellers
    2. I am interested in information about Jacob Sellers who was probably born in northeastern North Carolina. The first record of him is in 1743 when his is listed as adjacent John Sellers' 400 acres in Craven Co., Nc on south side of Great Cotentnes Creek. On 05/23/1757 he obtains a Land Grant (filed Book 2/158 (16/103)) for 100 acres in Duplin County, NC on the East side of Six Runs. His last record is a 1778 deed of John Knowles and Jacob Sellers to Nathaniel Merritt filed in Sampson County, Book 6,68. While it is likely from subsequent records that he had several sons his son Isom (Isham) is identified through the following record: Sampson County Land Grant Book 1770-1814 Volume 2 A deed of gift from Jacob Sellers to Isom Sellers for Sundry N.Carolina Duplin County To all to whome thesepresents into writing Shall come I Jacob Sellers Sen. of Duplin County and province aforesaid send greetings. 2. In a post from R37HR@aol.com, dated 2/19/99, Rosemary Reifel wrote: <<The will of William Pigford Sr. (father of Solomon) mentions a plantation on both sides of Sills Creek. He and his wife Sarah (surname unknown) are believed to be buried at "Penderlea Cemetery, now known as Potts Memorial Cemetery, which encompasses the old Pigford Cemetery, where their son Edward and his wife Isabella Lamb Pigford, are buried". William's will was probated in 1803.>> Rosemary, I have Edward Pigford listed as John Edward Pigford; his wife, Isabella Lamb (b 27 Jan 1779, d 22 Feb 1856) was the daughter of Thomas LAMBE and Isabella JOHNS, my gggg g/parents. 3. The Snells in Duplin County are probably descendents of Roger Snell who migrated from Bertie Co to Duplin County along with the Bell, King and Byrd families in about 1752. Roger Snell's will was written 27 Oct 1758 and probated 2 Jun 1759. He names in the will his wife, Ann, sons James and Roger, and daughters Mary King, Rebecca Herring, Ann King and Partheny. Sorry, I don't have any further information on the descendents of the sons. July 21, 1779 Mary McGee. John & William are brothers and sons of James Farrior and Margaret Bryan. 1. Welcome to the List
    2. Welcome to the list, and thanks for joining. I hope we can help each other. The guidelines here are: Please be polite. If you have a problem with someone, please email them privately. This is probably unnecessary to say to North Carolina people. Lots of genealogy buffs are gentle people who don't want to hear tough language. Please oblige them. I am Mary Westbrook-Drake and own this list. That means the buck stops here. I will be monitoring the mail to the list and helping with subscribe-unsubscribe problems. This list is for information about the genealogy and history of the county. That includes information about how to do research there, great links, and other useful stuff for genealogists. PLEASE introduce yourself to the list. Let people know what you are expert on, and what you are researching. In order to facilitate communication and research I have to prioritize my time and usually decide to use it adding new information to the county page. This means I don't have time to do much personal research these days. I am way behind in answering my personal mail. If you have data you are willing to share, please send it to me for publication on the county page. I'll keep plugging away until it is up. However, like all genealogist, I have major exceptions. I always want to hear anything about the Dixon, Dickson, Dixon families of Onslow, New Hanover, Duplin and other Eastern NC counties. This is my major puzzle to solve before I dieĀ…and I am beginning to think I am going to live a long, long time. Hoping to hear from everyone of you on the list.
