WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ANYTHING ON THE GERGANIOUS FAMILY IN NORTH CAROLINA MY GRANDMOTHER'S NAME WAS TINA EVA GERGANIOUS WHICH SHE LATER BEGAN SPELLING GERGANUS. SHE HAD BROTHERS BUT DON'T KNOW THERE NAMES.
Hello, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my last message. I am starting to see how they are all related in some way. I am still unable to find my gggg grandfather in all of this. He is not listed in the book of LANIERs. Lets all see what we can come up with. (now the missing link) My gggg grandfather is Hezekiah Lanier. His wife's name is Abey (nickname). I know of two of their children. 1. Sarah Lanier b. March 1, 1829 2. George Washington Lanier b. December 1, 1838? Hezekiah is listed in the 1840 New Hanover County census along with Noah, Ivy, and Larkins. This is the only census that I have found him in. List him as being 40-50 years old and his wife as 30-20 years old and 6 children. My Hezekiah Lanier is not the Hezekiah D. Lanier in Ga and listed in the LANIER book. He is way to young. Sarah is my ggg grandmother who married a Watkins who lived next door to Watson Watkins in 1850. Watson Watkins had a Susan Lanier age 33 living with them and their next door neighbor Major Hall had Rebecca J. Lanier age 3 living with them. The entire page 341 New Hanover Co. census seems to be family related. If Hezekiah and Abey died I need to find George because he would have been 10-12 years old in 1850. He, I believe is the Geo. W. living with Thomas Lanier in Duplin in 1850 which is 10 years old but census ages are not always correct. I have taken Hezekiah, Abey, Sarah and George Washington Lanier from a bible record. The bible was printed in 1838 and belonged I believe to Sarah after she married my ggg grandfather. I believe that Hezekiah is related to Noah, and the rest some how since he was living near them. Now isn't this a mystey? Would love to hear from any decendants. ASH Wolf1912@aol.com
Seeking any information on Noah Lanier that lived in Newhanover County North Carolina. I believe he was born around 1800 in NC. Would like to hear from anyone who knows of Noah Lanier/Newhanover and Thomas Lanier b. 1780 Duplin county. Have sent other messages out and will answer all messages sent to me. I am doing research on the Lanier line because I believe I have a missing link. Thanks to all Ash wolf1912@aol.com
Hoping someone can help. I am looking for parents and siblings of Thomas Lanier of Duplin Co. NC. He is listed in the NC Census for 1850 Duplin Co. as. Thos. Lanear 70 years Thena Benj. ? Eliza Geor. W. Believe George W. Lanear is the son of someone else not Thomas Lanear so trying to find out also who is Thomas to George. This would help me get past a brick wall. Any help would be appreceiated. Thanks. Ash wolf1912@aol.com

He could have been born in Duplin but county of birth is unknown. He lived in Duplin in 1830 with wife and two children aged 0-5, one male and one female. It is not known how long he had lived in Duplin at this time but had one other child born in NC abt 1833. By 1834 the family had moved to Marion/Sumter Co GA. By 1850 they were in Dale Co AL. Bright was married to Mary (Watkins?) said to have been a daughter of a James Watkins. Mary was born in 1808 in SC and died 1888 in Dale or Geneva Co AL. There is a James Watkins living in the HH next to Bright and Mary Watson in 1830 Duplin. He could be a brother to Mary, as his age range is close to Bright's age. Children born in GA were: William Pinckney, David B., Joseph Howell, Mary R., Sarah Jane, Louisa. Issac A. was born in Alabama. There was one other daughter, Elizabeth, who was probably one of the children listed in the 1830 Duplin HH. Any information on Bright, his parents and siblings greatly appreciated. Janet W.
