Henderson was in the "Duplin Turpentine Boys" This is the way I list the men in my book: Henderson, Jesse R.: Pvt. Co. E 30TH Reg. NCT (24 in 62) Tho I do have lots of ties to other people in my notes & records for many on my list, I do not have any on Jesse. I will keep him in mind the next time I go to the courthouse. He may be in a will or division of land or a deed from his father. Don't buy any seed yet, if he died in 1863 as his service record says, how did he & Mary buy "YOUR" land in 1864? Keith PS thanks for Mary A. middle & maiden name, I will write it in my census.
Seeking information on Robert Groves from Duplin Co. area who bought land from a John Bradley in 1792. Mentions Wayne Co. line, Calf Pasture Branch?, Jacob Taylors corner, Reuben Johnstons corner. Does anyone have information ?
Keith: I saw your mention of your "confederates' list". Does your list have Jesse R. HENDERSON, Co 30th NCT? If so, do you ahve any clue as to his parents/siblings. He died at Gordonsville, VA, 28 Mar 1863, leaving wife and 4 minor children. I've never found any record of widow's/children's compensation. She and childrern moved to Cumberland Co with her father, Elijah BUTLER, sometime between 1863 and census time 1870. Also, a piece of land Jesse/Mary Amanda bought in 1854, must have been swallowed up. I've found no record of sale, repossession, or any other disposition of this property. Hey, does that mean the deed's open? If so, I claim it ;-). Studying film of 1837-1868 P&Q Session minutes now. Got any hints? Charlie Weaver, Winston-Salem
