    1. Henry R. Kornegay
    2. OK, i will try to let you know what i have and where i got the info and maybe you can understand how i have what i have, as i have said before with people having the same names it not hard to be confused, <<<<Christine; I am been trying to sort out this Henry KORNEGAY stuff and the followiing is all I can offer at present. My orginal records had Henry (1787-af 1835) and Nancy (CARRAWAY) (1792/3- 10 Feb 1835) KORNEGAY as having 6 known children 1. Maria "Mary" KORNEGAY (28 Sep 1813 wayne Co NC- 7 Sep 1901 West Point, Clay Co MS bur Greenwood Cem) m. (1) 6 Jan 1831 Duplin Co NC to Steven K. BRYAN; M. (2) George Washington JUSTICE ca 1856 in MS. 2. Henry A. KORNEGAY b. 1815 Wayne Co NC; m. Elvy or Eliz. R.________ DO not have him in my data, the 1850 census has him on page 7b, age 38, wife Eliz R age? LUKE C age 14, james H age 12, Susan C age 9,Nancy A 6,Emily NG 4, Wm D.2. 3. William J. KORNEGAY b. 1817/20 Wayne Co NC; m. Spicy Jane GRIMES I do not have his parents Names in data,This was one of my Questions, but now i do right :-) 4. Wyatt Y. KORNEGAY (mine) (1820/21 Wayne Co NC- 1882 MS) m. Mary Anna---- ab 1838 NC; m. (2) Mrs. Frances (THOMAS) MADISON 14 Nov 1867 Oktibbeha Co MS Have seen this name but not in my data either 5. Luke KORNEGAY (1822-1888) Wayne Co NC; resided Seven Springs; m. Elizabeth GRIMES. I donot have my souce on this?? but i will recheck i have him as the son of Bryan W Kornegay(which i can always change but someone else has this info somewhere). 6. Susan KORNEGAY b. 1825 Wayne Co-d. unmarried in HH of Wm J & Spicy jane Kornegay 1850 census. Now some one came along with a Henry Carraway KORNEGAY b. 1830 and tried to I am not trying to replace anyone, I think if you look back over the post i ask who was his parents??? He Mary and others is buried in the Kornegay Cemetery(one of many :-) 1mile west of the junctionSR1306 &Sr1305. in the book it has Henry Caraway(1r) Kornegay 1830-1894. replace the Henry A. KORNEGAY b. 1812/1815 m. to Elvy or Eliz R with him or add him to Henry I. I don't know who Henry Carraway KORNEGAY who is said to have married Mary Elizabeth GRIMES is. Unless he could be the son of Henry A. KORNEGAY and Elvy or Eliz R. It has always been thought that Henry KORNEGAY I and Nancy (CARRAWAY) were married about 1812 so I rather doubt them having another son in 1830 and naming him Henry Carraway KORNEGAY but then anything is possible. I would like to get these families untangled.I would like to see them untangled also, if you will look back at the post of 9/11/1999 i think, where i sent what is on the Kornegay line site , where a Henry Robert Kornegay b 1809 m Jennette Williams, to me it looks like this is where the mix up came in, this is my feeling some may agree and some may disagree, i think someone put your Henry A there maybe???? but if you go there you will notice that it also has the other wives of Henry Robert Kornegay b5/26/1823 d 2/4/1898 this cemetery info i sent yesterdayor early this morning. Now as far as Henry Robert KORNEGAY and William B. KORNEGAY sons of George Fisher and Sarah (GLISSON) KORNEGAY. I beleive that you have that data all mixed up. As for the parents of Henry R, this was confirm by a Kornegay Digest that someone sent info on, and i also had found this info on the Oates section 5. of the Kornegay site. as for Wm B. this is in the Herring book and could also be on the Oates pages also, not sure :-). I have that Henry Robert KORNEGAY married 3 times That info was in the digest also.they have 8 children i was told.(1) to Jenette Williams 31 Oct 1844 and had 9 children with her; m. (2) Catherine OUTLAW b. 9 Mar 1846 d/o George and Hester (WHITFIELD) OUTLAW af 1868, I have no issue; m. (3) Josephine KOONCE and no issue for them. The children of Henry Robert and Jenette were: Mary A.G.; Robert Daniel; James Fisher; Arthur; Joseph F.; Charles J.; Sarah "Sallie" J.; Victoria J. and Wade Hampton KORNEGAY.(Do not have all the Children listed) I can give you some information on all of the above children. TheSarah GLISSON that we have married to George Fisher KORNEGAY is the d/o Daniel GLISSION not an Abraham GLISSON.the source i have has a Question ? by Abraham, but That is the name the Herring bk has, if could be a Daniel but which one??? Does anyone have the answer, some think that is the Daniel that was m to Sarah Herring dau of Stephen& Sarah Bright Herring, but this Sarah did not died until ca 1797 so until someone tells me different i am leaving it as Abraham with a ??mark. there was several Daniels HELP?? I have William Bryan KORNEGAY This info i have also came from the Oates section 5 bro of Henry Robert; married to Catherine GRADY so far only have two daus for them Catherine E. b. 1831 and Mary b. 1832. My records are subject to error but we discussed Henry Robert KORNEGAY I think we agree on that line a while back and I think this is what we came up with. Loretta >> Hi ,Thank you for the kind words, you do not need to put a full cemetery list on the site, you can put 1 person at a time, What got me was that out of the 4 names i tried there was none listed, and everyone knows how many Kornegay's there was, a lot, but not one listed on the site. Duplin Co., NC has 3 cemetery books that i know of, the one i have only has 3 Grimes in it, has a lot of Kornegay's, if anyone went to the site, they will notice it did not go in as i typed it :-) but at least it is there. Sometime it may be hard to get stuff put on the county site, but this way it goes on as soon as you type it. It does take a little time , i am a hunt and peck typer :-) so it takes longer for me, but if everyone would put just a couple of names , than that would help others and this way the info you have is in a safe place and you know where to go to get it :-). [ I am a descendent of John Stroud who first shows up in the KY census in 1820. He married Rachel Bidwell in 1811. We think Lott came to KY about 1806 and that John, who was 11 year younger may have moved with the family. We are not certain of the relationship. Lott was the holder of the grant for land on Cypress Creek. John was the executor of Lott's will [which I have]. Ok, Going back to LenoirDuplin County ,In the Duplin County Deed Book, Court Minutes of Pleas and Quarter Session: [[Abstract 1784-1787 by Leora H. McEachern] P 64, Date July 19, 1802. ".Lott Stroud applied as Constable and gave bond" P 70, Date Oct 18, 1802. "ordered Lott Stroud, Constable, to attend Grand Jury" P 76, Date Oct 19, Allowed Lott Stroud 20 [money] for attending court as constable 2 days this term. Date Jan 1803, Deed Richard Bradley to Uhria Sullivan for 145 acres, proved by Lott Stroud. Ordered registered. Book 6 1803-1805 P 2, Applied Thomas Grimes, a constable in room of Lott Stroud. He gave bond. This would have been about the time that Our Lott Stroud took his bride, Nancy Grimes and left for Kentucky, arriving 1806. Other information: From Kentucky Land Grants Chapter - Grants South of the Green River " A group of records entered from 1797 to 1806 known as Grants South of the Green River comprises twenty-nine books and includes 15,730 grants. These were also known as "Headright Grants," and were based upon an act of the Kentucky General Assembly of December 21, 1795, and are listed in Chapter IV. Prior to the establishment of Kentucky as a state, Virginia had reserved for her soldiers all the lands south of Green River. These were encompassed by a line .......... Until 1797 no one person could enter a survey within this great reservation except a soldier. When Kentucky as a sovereign state took charge of her vacant lands, new legislation opened up this great reservation south of the Green River to any person possessed of a family and over twenty-one years of age.. Such persons were entitled to not less than 100 acres or more than 200 acres, but must have been bona fide settlers on the land for one year before they came into actual possession." Lott is listed as grantee of 100 acres on Cypress Creek in Christian County, surveyed 12-3-1798 [when he was 20 years old]; and 8--1804, 100 acres on Cypress Creek in Muhlenberg County when he would have been 27 years old. According to what we have he didn't move to Kentucky with his family till 1806. It makes you wonder if the surveys could have been ordered by the older Lott Stroud who was the Revolutionary War Soldier. There were a Lott and John Stroud from Lenoir/Duplin who served in Major John Asche's 9th Carolina. That John is tracked by the DAR to Georgia where he died. Of Lott I have been able to find no further reference in Lenoir/Duplin. No pension applications or anything else, yet. He may have gone elsewhere, but I haven't tracked him down yet. Listmembers, were Lott and John Stroud, Revolutionary War Soliers, sons of Lutsen Stroud Sr. or brothers of Lutsen Stroud, Jr? I found a reference to them in the Heritage of Lenoir County, 1981, as uncles of Isaac Stroud, Sr., [1791-1871]. The names of Lott and John first appear in Lenoir County during the Revolutionary War and then again in Muhlenberg County, KY in 1820. I have to believe there is a connection. I appreciate any help anyone can give. Carole Vennerstrom

Robert is probably too young to be the father of Meresaco. Elizabeth is probably too old to be the mother of the two children. I don't know if Lafayette ties in to the family, but with the odd names, I think probably yes. Meresaco is my connection. I have found records for the same person with different spellings of the first name: Meresaco Miller, b1871 - 1880 census Merusa Miller, age 17 - 1884 marriage record (she lied about her age) Marriscow Miller b11-9-1871 died 12-20-1934 - headstone My grandmother called her Russ. She was married to I. G. Hall, aka Isaac Gregory Hall, aka Greg or Grigg. They are both buried in the Gregg or Grigg Hall Cemetery in Duplin County, close to Potter Hill. They were land owners, the property where the cemetery is located, but we haven't been able to find any proof of that yet. I would like ANY information on the above people. Thanks! 3. Dear Judy, I too research Halls from Hallsville. I have been to the Hall - Sprunt - Armstrong Cemetery too. My grandmothers grandfather was John William Hall born in Hallsville. His father was Thomas Pearsall Hall son of William Hall. I have quite a lot of info. on the Hall line. Would you like to share any info? Who are you researching exactly? I do not know about the Mary Brown. Emily Gray Houston, TX P.S. My mom lives in Raleigh so I am there every so often doing research etc. Emily, I would love to share information. I'm not sure that this is my family yet. I don't know the race of this family. There were a lot of both black and white families in Duplin County with the last name of Hall. And since I don't know which is which, I'm looking into all the Halls to try to find a connection to my ancestors who are white. If I get information on families that are black, I would be glad to share that information I have found with someone who is looking for their families too. What caught my attention to Thomas Hall and Mary Brown or Mary B. McGowan is the fact that I am also looking for McGowans as well as Halls. I'm looking for the parents of Isaac Gregory Hall b1866 married to Marriscow? (Russ) Miller. Their children were: Enoch Hall Jermey Hall Lola Hall Jasper Hall Joseph Hall Joder Hall Viola Hall Della Hall ************************* This information is from the headstones in Hall Family Cmty. Elizabeth Jane Hall Wife of Thomas Hall Age 21 Years Also Hannah G. Hall Only child of Thomas and Elizabeth Jane Hall Died Aug 21 1846 Age 1 year. Thomas Hall Jan 11, 1820 Sep 10, 1875 Mother ? Hall Mary Brown Hall Sep 24, 1828 Aug 22, 1899 ********************** We downloaded a tree file from ancestry world tree submitted by Susan Quinn Sand In it she has: William Hall and Elizabeth had a son, Nicholas. Nicholas married Catherine Kinnear and had a son, Thomas Thomas Hall married Mary Brown and had a son named Joseph Nicholas. Joseph Nicholas Hall married Annie Thompson and had a son named Leon McGowan Hall, as well as other children. ********************** We looked for any record of marriages for all our family links which include Hall and McGowan and came up with the following marriage: Thomas Hall and Mary B. McGowan on 5-25-1850. *********************** This is my thinking and not facts: Thomas married Elizabeth and she died. He remarried Mary Brown (who was buried beside Thomas. Elizabeth is on the other side of him) Mary was, according to the headstone, 22 years old when there was a marriage record to Thomas Hall, but the last name was McGowan. Being 22, she could have been married previously to a McGowan. This is what I'm trying to find out. If Mary was previously married to a McGowan, then who? Thomas and Mary had a grandson whose middle name is McGowan. It was common for middle names to be a family name from the mothers side, and in this case, maybe the grandmothers. I hope you have information to connect Isaac Gregory Hall as we have come to a dead end.
