Forgot to say, the problem isn't just with the Herring's, it's also Halls, Cole's, Batts's, Thomas's, Williams's and who knows who else. Possibly a couple of sub-districts. I ran in to the exact same thing in the index book I was looking at for 1850 at the library here in Texas. The people ARE on the microfilm though. There are other books out there that DO have the complete index, guess it depends on the publisher of the book you are looking at. I spent some time at the Tallahassee FL State archives this weekend. I have been looking for Henry HERRING b. 1816 NC who married Pencie Jane BOONE. I discovered that ALL of the HERRING's are missing from the SOUTHERN DIVISION of Duplin Co NC in the 1850 census book index. If you are looking for a HERRING in the 1850 census index book and can't find them, you might want to go page by page in the southern division of Duplin Co NC. The book index does list the Herrings in the Northern Division. Carmelita WLWMEGAWAT@aol.com or Carmawalker@Yahoo.com or carmelitaW@juno.com

The Drury Hall I am looking for married Sarah Thrower in Wilson Co, TN in 1816. Their son was Thomas Drury Hall, b 1826 in Rutherford Co, TN. Evidently, this is not the same Drury Hall. The only information I have about him is a birth yr-1789, and that he was born in NC. I thought perhaps this Drury born in Duplin Co in 1790 was the one I was looking for. Can anyone help me locate another Drury Hall born about 1790 in NC? Thanks, Sherri

The original e-mail reflects Blanche Hall, widow of Drewry Hall, dec'd., . Blanche was still living in 1851. This Drewry Hall was deceased. >From fragments of Divison of estate of one Henry Hall (1757) - Heirs: Sarah Hall, Martha Williams, James Hall, Drewry Hall, Susannah Hall and Patience Hall (Duplin Inventories Divisions of Estate, Wills 1761-1804 (CR 35.015 - Loose Papers NC Archives). Steve, Below, it appears that John M. Chasten is married to Penelope. I didn't see a marriage record for them. However, I did find one for John M. Chasten to Susan A. Hall on 12-1-1855, 5 years after the note below. Maybe he married both of them? Judy Duplin DB 20, p 292 - Drewry Hall, 31 Jan 1851 - agreement of James Hall, Solomon Hall, John M. Steve, Would you by any chance have any information on the parents of the Hall family below: 1870 Census: 481/131 HALL William J. 31 farmer " Mary S. 33 housekeeping " Mary A. 10 " William E. 8 " Isaac G. 4 " Betsy J. 1 1880 Census: 21/1945 HALL William J. 43 " Mary S. 43 wife " Mary A. 19 child " William E. 17 child " Isaac G. 14 child " Elizabeth J. 11 child " Richard I. 8 child " Jas. N. 6 child " Louis E. 3 child " Susan A. 10/12 child I found a William Hall in the 1850 Census. The age of the child, William H. is correct with the William J. above, but I'm not convinced they are the same family. 1850 Census: 71-351 HALL William 1805 45 poor house rheumatism " " Eliza 1817 33 " Poverty & Disease " " Sarah 1831 19 " " " " Mary 1834 16 " " " " Rebecca 1837 13 " " " " William H. 1839 11 " " " " Martha 1845 5 " " " " Jno D. 1849 1 " " I have a feeling that the 1850 family is not the same as the 1870 & 1880 family, but think that they are related, possibly brother to Lewis and Lavina Hall, who are direct neighbors and land owners in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. I just can't prove it. Can you or anyone else help me out with this? Thanks Judy
Could the Drury mentioned in Sarah Halls will be an adult and have a son named Drury, who was born around 1790. The 1784 census for Duplin-Sampson County shows as follows: Southerland HALL Drury 1-1-2 Southerland HALL James 1 Southerland HALL Sarah 0-1-2 At the time Sarah Halls will was written in 1786, she was already a grandparent of 4 children. She mentions 3 of her own children, Mary, Martha and Drury. Since there are already a hand full of grandchildren, the Drury she mentions as her son is probably the adult Drury listed in the 1784 census and possibly the father of the Drury that Sherri is looking for. Here is the 1850 census info: 80-494 HALL Blanche 68 2500 " " James 29 farmer 500 " " Susan 27 " " Solomon 26 farmer " " Penelope 22 The way I read the info you sent indicated that Blanche died in 1851? Maybe I read it wrong, but the 1860 census shows Blanche again. 97-280 HALL Blanche 75 farmer " Williams Rebecca 40 Housekeeper " Shuffield Caroline 30 hinching? 0/60 " " Mary C 10 " " Alexander 8 " " Priscilla 4 " Gore Evaline 16 seamstress Judy Pearscp@aol.com wrote: > > Hi, > Found one other piece for a Drury Hall. > Genealogical Abstracts, Duplin County Wills (1730-1860)by William L.
