    1. Gresham/Grisham/Grissom
    2. Dear Dee, I am fairly new to this and am not sure what a look up in your book is. Just read a few letters from others. I am researching any information on the Gresham/Grisham family of Duplin county. Specifically need information on parents of Thomas David Gresham or may have been David Thomas Gresham who was married to Barbara Bishop. Thomas and Barbara are buried in Duplin Co. I have their information. I have been told his father was a William Thomas or Thomas William Gresham who was married to Ann Weeks but I cannot find ANY information on the last two listed family members. Thanks, Sue

    1. Zebedee Swinson
    2. Chris Swinson
    3. List, A deed from "Zebedie" & James Swinson to Maxey A. Manning executed in 1866 revealed their father to be Zebedee Swinson. James, identified as "of Onslon County", is my 2nd ggrandfather (b. abt. 1804 d. ?). "Zebidie", his brother, was born abt. 1810 according to the 1850 Census. Has anyone run across a Zebedee Swinson prior to 1800 in Duplin? I've seen some info that he was born abt. 1779, but have yet to confirm it. I'm trying to locate any documentation that may shed some light on Zebedee, the father. Appreciate any help. Chris Swinson

    3. Hi, I am looking for information on William Hall. The 1850 Guilford Co. Census has him as 57 born in Sampson Co. NC, his wife Elizabeth is 56 from Stokes. Their children are Unknown, Delilah, Elizabeth, Charity, Sarah, Charles and Christian. They may have married around 1820, there is a 16-20 year old child listed in the 1840 Stokes Census. By 1850 he has disappeared from the family group. I know this is Duplin but does anyone know anything of Wm. Hall fm. Sampson. Thanks, Clara ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. I have just subscribed to the Duplin list, and hope there are some Quinn descendants out there who can trace their roots back to Carteret County. From the Canaday family tree published at FamilyTreemaker.com, I learned that Loftin Quinn of Carteret County married Mary Canaday, and it looks like some of their sons may have ended up in Duplin County, because I see more references to them there than in Carteret Co. Loftin and Mary are thought to be the parents of Loftin, William L., Thomas, Margaret, and Abner, Sr. Most of these children would have been born in the 1750s and Loftin left a will in 1766, but did not name all of them. Abner Quinn, Sr. is thought to be the father of my husband's ancestor, Loflin Quinn, who married Polly Gould in Carteret in 1814. Loflin and Polly left Carteret Co. and were in Williamson Co., TN, about the time son Michael was born in 1817. Loflin received land in Shelby Co., AL, for his War of 1812 service, so they moved there and Michael raise! d his family in Shelby County. His son Loftin became a Baptist preacher and moved to Grant and Saline County, AR, by 1870. He was my husband's great grandfather. I would like to correspond with anyone who has info on the family of Loftin and Mary Canaday Quinn in Duplin County. Melanie Atkins College Station, TX

Manning; a tract on Back Swamp; executed 1866, filed Sep 28, 1869. (Duplin Deed Book 26, p. 143) Of course, I'd pay for any costs associated with copying and mailing this.
