    1. Re:DUPLIN Digest V99 #177 - LAMB
    2. Don't know who was looking for which Lamb, but I am directly descended from both Thomas Lambe (c 1776 - bef 1812) who married Isabella Johns (d c 1793) and Thomas' brother, William (b c 1752 - c 1807) who married Abigail David (c 1752 - c 1800). Have never found proof that the father of these men was Peter Lambe. Thomas and Robert were BOTH my 4th great grandfathers. Notes: Thomas, a resident of New Hanover Co, NC, served in the Militia of New Hanover Co during the American Revolution during the period between 16 October 1781 until August 1783. See DAR records # 777310, # 612240, #466029. He was enumerated in New Hanover Co, NC in 1790 with three males under sixteen, four females (all ages) and four slaves in his household. Also found in New Hanover in the same year were Isaac Lamb (2 males under 16, 2 females, and one slave) and Gibbs Lamb (1 male under 16, 3 females and one slave). William Lamb(e) was enumerated in New Hanover Co, NC 1790 with four males under sixteen, one female, and four slaves in his household. Amy Bishop Flowers

    2. Hello everyone, I am still looking for relatives of WALTER MATHIS of Color. I did find out my great grandmother's name was Laura Mathis of Rose Hill or Teacheys, NC. How would I find out who her parent's were? My grandpa Walter Mathis was born in 1896 in Duplin County. He moved to Sampson Co. and married Lottie E. McLamb in 1916. He died in 1982 and my grandmother died in 1978 in Wayne Co. and both were buried in the Edgar Mclamb Cemetery in the Keener Community, Clinton, NC. She at least 2 sisters: Aunt Rhodia and Mattie (Matt) Mathis, who we believed never married. Please e-mail me at ally3729@aol.com, if these names ring a bell with you. Thanks Alice

    3. Good idea, Paula. How 'bout if I sent the complete bibliography one time and then somehow referenced each posted lookup with an abbreviated version of the title? Is this what you meant? It would be just about impossible to give that information on each posting, - I'm too old and too tired. Give me a few days to do the bibliography and if there's another way to go about this let me know. Make the checks payable to Bladen County Historical Society and note on the check that it is for "publishing books". Send it to Elizabeth Turner, P.O. Box 873, Elizabethtown, North Carolina 28337. This seems to me to be an example of the ultimate recycling: BCHS produces these books, we benefit from the information published, and we, in turn, support their efforts. No one will ever know if you choose to do this, and rightly so. It's merely a solution for putting the "reimbursement" question to rest. I have zeroxed its pages well over 2000 times, flipping it back and forth and upside down on the copier, not a torn page, not a loose page. My copy has done "yeoman's duty" and still looks great. Next, some of the dear people that I have done lookups for are getting rather insistent about paying me mailing costs, etc. Is there an entity in Bladen County ( genealogical of course) that could use their contributions? We're not talking about endowments, just a few dollars at a time. Please let me know your thoughts. I sure don't want to have to tear up or return checks, but neither will I accept them. 3. Jason, I noticed your reference to the Green family in Duplin County. I have been trying to find the origin of my William Green, b ca 1745, supposedly in NC. He had a son, Reubin Green, born ca 1768. Duplin county has been suggested. I have seen several land transactions with Reubin and William Green listed on them. No other clues have been found other than these deed and land contracts. William later settled in Barnwell District, SC. His fist son, was Absolom, ba ca 1764, in NC. William's sister was thought to be an Elizabeth Green who married an Andrew Bates. One theory was that Temperance may have been a sister to William. Let me hear from you. Thanks. Gerald F. The death date I have for her is Dec 23, 1959. Same as the headstone. Does anyone have birth or death dates for Amos Hall to verify I have the right couple. Amos is supposedly the son of Tom Hall and Margaret. Tom Hall and Margaret might be Lewis Thomas Hall and Margaret A. found in the 1880 census #635. Can some one verify this also? Thanks a bunch!
