Calf Pasture Branch, NW stream, flows S into Grove Creek also known as Shop Branch. Calf Pasture Branch, on NW Duplin County map; heads in S. Wayne County: flows SE into NE Cape Fear River, at Duplin/Wayne dividing line. 3. Some of us are working on the ownership of the land at Richard Caswell Park in Kinston and need some information so this is not my own family. Harper Williams was of Duplin Co and according to the 1850 Census had at least 5 sons including one, Joseph, who went to Lenoir Co. One of the sons, William H. had a Will in Duplin in 1889 (which I have not seen) that mentions the children of his dec brother, Joseph, and two sisters, Mrs. H. C. Faison and her son Dr. W. W. Faison and Mrs. M. E. Lee. I can't find who those two sisters were and it is really probably not important - just curious - but we are trying to determine if there was another sister Martha C. Williams Brown. Do I assume that Harper had two wives and two sets of children? Does anyone have a complete list of Harper's children or know how Martha C. might fit in this Williams family. She was bc 1822 md John M. Brown bc 1845. Thanks. Martha

    1. Re: [NCDUPLIN] Re; William Carroll Place ???
    2. Ike, I have a copy of the booklet..I am not sure if it's in the library in Clinton or Kenansville.. Someone made the copy and I don't remember who it was. It is called Carlton and Related Families" an update by Mary Carlton Blackburn, April 1989. There are 60 pages.. Like I mentioned in my original query, I was seeking information as to who this William Carroll was..since it seems old information passed down that Jesse Carroll was the son of William...I had read it before, but just this weekend was checking a date in the booklet and came across it once again....and it got my attention.... I have checked all my Dupin/Sampson books I have and do not find a William Carroll... Remember we chatted before about the Carltons when I was looking for Carlton Crossing on the railroad.... My G.Grandparents were Thomas Fryar and Martha Jane "Mattie" Carroll who lived in Magnolia, and I have a letter story written by a cousin, that states that to get to her Grandparents home you crossed the railroad at Carlton Corners... My G.Grandmother's brother Rev. Luther Rice Carroll was married to Jemima Ann Carlton... Jackie in CA... -------------- Original message -------------- From: [email protected] > I am also related to the Carltons and Carrolls! 3. Jackie, Yes, several of us would like to know where the land of this William Carroll was located and if this William was related to the ten CARRELL/CARROLL families present for the first census in 1790. A William Carroll is the first Carroll I have any record of in Duplin/Sampson, but apparently he was deceased before 1790. Specifically I would like to know if this William Carroll could possibly be the same one who got the Duplin land grant in 1753 on the Great Branch of the Cape Fear. One "Great Branch" comes into the Northeast Cape Fear in northeast Duplin County. I have wondered if "Great Branch" was a descriptive term or an proper name for a stream. According to article # 530 in the Sampson County Heritage book, "In 1767 John Carroll sold his interest in his father's estate along Six Runs to his brother Jesse Carroll...." This seems to indicate that one CARROLL had died who had at least sons Jesse and John. Jesse Carroll owned over 1000 acres of land - some east and some west of Six Runs Creek. I believe one land record also mentioned Stewarts Creek. Hardy Carroll owned land on Stewarts Creek. One of his daughters married Austin Beasley, so I wonder if the "Beasley Mill Pond" was on a branch of Stewarts Creek. Three prongs of Stewarts Creek begin near present day Warsaw. On a present day road map one of the prongs of Stewarts Creek crosses Highway 117 at the community labeled as "Carroll." Two other prongs begin very near Magnolia, These two prongs make Millers Creek, which then runs into Stewarts Creek. Stewarts Creek comes into the east side of Six Runs Creek. At least 6 of the Carroll families in the 1790 census lived near where Stewarts Creek entered Six Runs Creek. I wish I knew where Carltons Chapel was located and what road went there from Magnolia. There is a cemetery located in that general area which holds some Carroll graves. I cannot find that information right now. PLEASE.... Can anyone add information about these CARROLLS (any spelling)?? 3. Some people like to get the original books rather than search the internet or run to the library for genealogy information. A friend is selling a fabulous library of books about Colonial Virginia, and she has posted about 50 of these on eBay. You can see a list of these at http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZteatime4tw0 Since many of those who settled in Duplin County, NC, moved there from VA, I thought you might be interested in seeing if there were books you needed. Some of these books are no longer in print. The listing is on two pages, so be sure to go on to the second page. Lura
