Bebe: My recollection is the route between Hillsboro and Chapel Hill in the 40's was via Highway 14 through Calvander and Carrboro. 14 is now called Old 86 and the route via North Columbia, Airport Road, etc did not go through until New 86 was built later, particularly the section from New Hope Church into Hillsborough.
