Thank you. I'll email him. Not only was Wm Stroud Jr. app. to help lay out a rd. from over the Haw River, I think it says "over" the Haw, to Hillsborough but Marmaduke Kimbrough, one of the very first 8 justices in new Orange, meeting in Hillsborough, wanted to build the court house, jail, etc. on his land where he lived...the Haw River. This is in the first few pages of the Orange Co. Pleas and Quarter Sessions. The only place I have seen the Haw River is in Alamance Co. and within a very few miles before entering Pittsboro, Chatham Co. on 15-501, near the exit to the village of Bynum. Even my husband, born in Person Co. and grew up in Alamance draws a blank on the Haw in Orange. OK...am now on a hunt for the Haw..., me and John Lawson. kinda fun!! Hi, There is a Faucette Mill located on a road of the same name about 5 miles northwest of Hillsborough. In this area the man with the most info on old roads is Tom Magneson, head of the Trading Path Association in Hillsborough. At [email protected] .
