    1. [NCDOGS] the Wake County GS program last night

    3. I have been in contact with Judy Rysdon, president of the WCGS, to ask for any materials that might have been available at last night's program on "Researching German Ancestry". I asked her to forward any handouts or other materials that the speaker might have brought. She sent me this reply this morning: Richard, The most interesting part of Hans' talk was about the documentation necessary to prove you were not Jewish that was necessary for soldiers to keep on their person, so copies wouldn't be available at some public repository, and his stories about how they lease burial space and remove the stones if the lease isn't continued. He also talked about how records were kept for royalty and how almost all European royalty were German. It was an unusual talk and stimulated a lot of interest. He didn't pass around handouts but I saw one on German handwriting on the desk. He put up transparencies of German names and their American sound alikes and translation surnames. Perhaps it would be a good idea for D-OGS to invite Dr. Stadelmeier to speak at an upcoming D-OGS meeting. Elizabeth, what do you think? -- Richard =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Richard K.
