Sharon DeBartolo Carmack has written on the subject, and put out a video that we showed at a D-OGS meeting a couple of years ago. She urges the point that less is better, and to try to avoid touching the face of the stone. Even removing the moss which seems intrusive, is likely too tear away the root fibers that may be keeping the whole face of the stone together. Bebe, is this the son of the Bob Newsome who was a doctor in the Med School? Dr. Newsome lived on the Old Hillsborough Road outside of Carrboro on a small farm with a beautiful old farmhouse that they had renovated. My backyard now backs up to what used to be his old horse pasture. - Richard [email protected] wrote: > http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=newsome > > > > > Bebe > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Sent: Thu, 18 Dec 2008 12:29 pm > Subject: Re: [NCDOGS] Fw: submissions for January 2009 newsletter > > > > > > > > > Sharon DeBartolo Carmack has written on the subject, and put out a video > that we showed at a D-OGS meeting a couple of years ago. Richard...no, Bob's father was a chemist at a Durham tobacco factory...Liggett and Myers, I think. Didn't a Newsome from UNC work with Hugh Lefler re the Orange Co. history? There is a Dr. Newsome here in Winston from Orange I saw once, who has a son, maybe in his 30's John said, that he saw. Would seem maybe this latter family is the one you recall...? One of the above fellows was a Ray Newsome...the one who worked with Lefler as I recall.
