The Nov 13 meeting of the CIG has been canceled due to several factors occurring simultaneously. The fall two-day workshop of the NCGS falls on that weekend and as we have usually worked around that date allowing people to attend the state meeting, and because our scheduled speaker is not going to be available, we will not be meeting. I hope everyone who might have come to the CIG will take the opportunity to attend the NCGS Raleigh workshop, it should be excellent and we are looking forward to it. As it stands today, we have no moderator for the upcoming year, no speakers scheduled, and the Chapel Hill Public Library will not be available for us to hold our monthly meetings. Other libraries do not have projectors available for us and so the problems outweigh the benefits of trying to struggle to find a speaker, moderator, and meeting place. So the bottom line is that the CIG is suspending activities, and will of course be given the opportunity to resume as circumstances change again. See you at tonight's D-OGS meeting, perhaps we can talk about some future options for the CIG. Often ideas and opportunities come from unexpected quarters. I'll be happy to answer your questions. Good morning.... I just canceled the meeting room CIG was going to use on Saturday, Nov 13th at the Chapel Hill Library Please remember that CHPL will be undergoing renovations for some 18 months beginning in 2011 and will NOT be available. It is my hope that we'll continue to find a need for the group, even if only to work on research together. And, just as importantly, that we will find a way to hold CIG meetings with remote access (free, of course) to include members who might want to attend. In this day and age, it seems to me that time, distance and even money shouldn't keep us apart.
