Wasn't Markham the Orange County register of deeds for many years? And when he retired he made the map with the early land grant holders. When he died his wife continued to sell this map, I've about worn mine out, very good map of the early settlers in the county. I am not a relative, but I have seen this name often in my research. I wish the map was still available, I would like to replace mine!
Hello Al, This is Martha Gujda, remember me? We used to exchange info. about the Dunnagans of Orange Co. N.C. I have an 8X10 page of the map you refer to (I think) I got it at the LDS Library in Salt Lake City. It shows the owners of LAND in old Orange Co. around 1750. If this is the one you mean, I can send you a copy. Let me know. marty martydar --- On Fri, 9/17/10, Al Lee <alee65@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > From: Al Lee <alee65@sbcglobal.net> > Subject: Re: [NCDOGS] Markum Family Stories > To: ncdogs@rootsweb.com > Date: Friday, September 17, 2010, 2:19 AM > Wasn't Markham the Orange > County register of deeds for many years? > And when he retired he made the map with the early > land grant holders. > When he died his wife continued to sell this map, I've > about worn mine > out, very good map of the early settlers in the > county.
