Al, I think you are correct. I believe his name was Frank Markham and he did the map back in the late 1960's - early 1970's. I understand that his son now lives in Durham and still has copies of the map for sale. - Richard On 9/17/2010 5:19 AM, Al Lee wrote: > Wasn't Markham the Orange County register of deeds for many years? > And when he retired he made the map with the early land grant holders. > When he died his wife continued to sell this map, I've about worn mine > out, very good map of the early settlers in the county. A B Markham's map of Orange County land grants can be viewed via the U N C library collection. Just google A B Markham's map of Orange County, N C land grants. I have heard the same story that the map is still available from his son, but I don't know his son's name. Maybe it is Frank. A B was a lawyer I seem to remember. -----Original Message----- From: ncdogs-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ncdogs-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Richard Ellington Sent: Friday, September 17, 2010 8:44 AM To: ncdogs@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NCDOGS] Markum Family Stories Al, I think you are correct.
