Attached is a flyer describing how to make use of this wonderful service! You can make your requests via phone or e-mail - details are provided. What is not included on the flyer is the information that for at least 5 more months or so, this service will be *Free*. And, it's our understanding that when a microfilm is renewed twice, it will become part of the ORL permanent collection! Remember also that ORL is conveniently open 6 days a week. Day: Time: Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. If you have any questions, please do contact the Olivia Raney Library,

    3. In case you're related, UNCTV (www.unctv.org) had an interesting program on the other night called "The Green Gift" (Episode 604) which talked about the Morgan and Mason families who donated land to UNC-CH, including for the NC Botanical Gardens. I'm not related to either family, but thought it was an interesting history. The show is hosted by Tom Earnhardt. "The Green Gift" is part of UNCTV's Exploring North Carolina series about the state's natural wonders. Hopefully, the station makes episodes available for those who might want to add video to their family archives. Nerissa Williams

    1. [NCDOGS] May newsletter submissions
    2. Richard Ellington
    3. I am working on next month's newsletter. If you have an item of interest that you want to submit, please have it to me no later than next Wednesday, 4/21. Our 5 May meeting will be held in Hillsborough at the new Orange County Public Library meeting room. Stewart Dunaway will be our speaker. He will be talking about county bridge, mill and road records. As a reminder, no one has volunteered to pick up the 2 June meeting and we have no Vice President/Program Chair to make the arrangements. There was an idea posed to have a panel discussion to talk about individual's "brick walls" and other such topics. If someone will take the lead on this, I will be glad to assist with reserving a meeting place. I will not be present for the June meeting. -- Richard =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Richard K. 1. Re: [NCDOGS] D-OGS webpage Blog Email Subscription
    2. Durham-Orange Genealogical Society North Carolina
    3. Hi Nerissa, Back in March (19th) I announced a new feature of the "What's New" blog on the new D-OGS website which would allow you to subscribe to the blog via email. What this means is that every time a new post is published to the blog, you will receive an email in your inbox. It's very similar to using Google reader to subscribe to blogs. It brings the content (including links) directly to your inbox. You don't even have to go to the website's blog if you have this feature. Here's what I wrote back in March: We have recently added a new feature to the "What's New" Blog part of our website. You can now subscribe to the blog via email in order to receive email updates of new content being published to the blog. I have outlined the instructions below. However, to see a more detailed explanation, feel free to visit our blog post here: http://www.ncgenweb.us/dogsnc/subscribe-to-blog-via-email Step 1: Click on this link <http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=D-OGS&loc=en_US>to subscribe: http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=D-OGS&loc=en_US< http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=D-OGS&loc=en_US> Step 2: Type your email address into the box and type in the text you see in the text graphic Step 3: Check your email for a verification message An email will be sent to your email address whenever new material is published to the blog. You can also subscribe by clicking on the "Subscribe to Durham-Orange Genealogical Society by Email" link on the left hand side of the web page (http://www.ncgenweb.us/dogsnc).
